“For the fifth consecutive year, In the Realm of the Senses returns as an expanded 3 night short film and music festival across the 10th, 11th and 12th March, Labour Day Long Weekend. Screening award winning short films and cutting edge music videos from Australia, New Zealand and India, In The Realm of the Senses provides emerging filmmakers with the opportunity to screen their cinematic gems in a beautiful outdoor setting.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Deep Rock Road picnic area in Fairfield, In the Realm of the Senses takes place in the sweeping valleys of Yarra Bend Park overlooking the Yarra River, and only 4mins from the CBD. Deep Rock is the perfect natural environment for viewing films under the stars.
In the Realm of the Senses will celebrate short film, cutting edge music videos and live bands in a vibrant carnival style atmosphere. Featuring roving performers, DJs spinning cool tunes, markets stalls, a chill out zone, a feast of food stalls serving tasty vegetarian delights and a thirst quenching bar brought to you by Stella Artois and Section 8!
Friday 10th March – Fantastic Voyage Opening Night
We kick off the festival with an informal twilight game of 20-20 cricket featuring the Abbotsford Anglers, whose mystical tour of India is captured in the opening night short feature Save Your Legs. The true story of a team of Aussie cricketers who take on a billion cricket mad Indians on their own turf, Save Your Legs is both moving and funny. For the first time, the festival will also present a program of short films from India that reflect the colour and diversity of this vibrant culture.”
