Two more photos of the Abbotsford Convent Contemplative Gardens

I reckon there must be some story behind the planting of these palms and bromeliads, some historical precedent, and I want you to tell me what it is.

    i lived in st hellier street abbotsford in 1974 till 1979 my x husband was the gardener for the nuns when they still owned the cinvent then it was sold to the instutute of early childhood development he then went on to work for them alot of the gardens is original from over a hundred years ago and alot was put in when he was a gardener there regards angela dyer
